Why do you use so old MAME?

I use the latest stabil version 2.71 on Vista and it works. There is one problem after exiting the program I've got an error message - but who cares:

"Access violation at address 00000000. Read of address 00000000."

Yes, if you are in merge mode, you have no clones files, just one big file with all roms for that game and all its clones. If a duplicates rom exists, it will make some trouble.

Thanks Logiqx but these two emus are a bit different than the official mame 0.84. That's why I wrote that 2 links.
But I have the dat now I don't know who created it and how but I have it!
So I will delete the links from my topic if I can edit that.

One more thing I prefer RomCenter than ClrMame ...

I have noticed the same.
But RomCenter is still the best!

I use RomCenter and ClrMame, but I don't like ClrMame because it causes strange things with my romsets. For my favourite mame I must use ClrMame because RomCenter crashes on it.
RC 2.62 is not able to create the dat file and the new beta version breakes when loading the rompath after created the dat ...
