We need to keep the updates coming in particular, a whole new full package complete with Logiqx's new DatUtil v2.44 released only yesterday (2/11/2008).

I'm worried that people that don't know how RC works will forget to update DatUtil and it give user problems.

Is it possible for your NEW v3.0 version to incorporate clrMAMEpro dats?

Obviously there are EXE's that convert them from clr to RC, but a nice touch would be to either use clr DATs straight away with no conversion or use your GUI to convert to RC and then import?

If your having so many troubles with RC, I would move over to clr.

I know that works 100% for everyone.

I personally would uninstall any old version first FULLY!

Then make sure your C:\Program Files\Romcenter directory doesnt exist, if not delete the Romcenter directory only.

Now, reboot and install 2.71 with a fresh install.

Try that and come back.

Well when I had the new version installed, I couldnt specify a rom file location because it was greyed out..so I couldnt import any mame files into the program to be checked. The 2.62 I still cant get to work right but at least it lets me specify a rom file. Is there some step by step instructions ...

I'm a little unsure why someone would want all the frills of screen shots etc that ecc provides.

When I use a rom management tool such as RC or clrMAMEpro, I use it to verify my roms and rename and add where appropriate.

I dont need all the extra info that ecc provides, only that my roms are ...

Is it something Logiqx can fix in his DATUTIL?

I don't think there's an automatic way to do this. This may help though: If you can filter one system's roms, you can select all of them in the right-part of RC's window, rightclick on one of them and select Shell operations\Move files to... from the popup menu ...

My current MAME system PC specs: Intel P4 3.20GHz, 2 Gb RAM, ATI RADEON 9550 256Mb, Direct X 9.0c, ATI Catalyst Control Center 6.1, J2SE Runtime Enviroment 5.0 Update 6 and Windows XP Professional (SP2 installed).

Just simply use MAME32 to run/play your roms, dont use RC.

Its not a Romcenter problem, its your PC. You need to investigate further.

I think this is the way forward for RC 3.X onwards.

Then DATUTIL can be removed altogether.

Until then, RC needs to add a ckeck to Logiqx and check the version.

There are more troubles with RomCenter. Some new formats of codes cannot be recognized correctly by RomCenter. ClrMame may also have these new format troubles but it is updated more frequently than RomCenter.

For example, there may be some codes like this:
gamename A,
romname D;
gamename B, clone ...

The problem lies when MAME changes something internally and Logiqx adjusts the tool to comply with the new code.

I'm using the original dat included with the 2.70.

It tries to rename the rom with exactly the same name, without the extension.

I would say then its a bug. It shoudl rename the file inside and rename it appropriately with the correct extention too.

But with the sms/gg ones, it strives to delete the extension of the roms (inside a zip file), which leads them to be unreadable for Kega. It's all the more curious since the genesis ones are named the right way (.bin, .smd).
