Re: Few more features request

1) Will it be pure MAME XML or will there be some RomCenter specifics in it also? The format is full mame compatible. I mean you can directly import a mame.xml file. Some rc specifics tags will be used in the header for general datafile info (author, dll etc...) but syntax is not yet defined. Datut...

It's not that simple to compile rc under linux.
I use some components which are not available for linux.

Anyway, wait for the rc3 alpha release to test and post the results.
If needed, I could try to fix the wine problems.

Re: one more report for romcenter 2.71

If a dat file has name and crc only (ie without file size), Romcenter can still fix the files but those files won't be counted as "playable game" in "Game Database". :( :? Not sure I understand... Size is not mandatory. These files are playable, even if the size is not available (name and crc is en...

Maybe the common roms should be copied in all clones ? Anyway, I see the problem, but I don't think it is really an important one. The solution is simple on paper... But it's different in the source code ! Merged, split or un-merged modes are statics. The database is fixed one and for all when you c...

1 - no. But folders are common for all datafiles of one system. For example, every mame datafile share the same folders. Note that you can drag folders from windows and drop them in romcenter folder view to add them.

2 - no, Rc only scans the first level roms.

No, rebuilding is not fixing.

I made the test myself with the same 3300 files. It tooks clrmame 22 min to sort them (24 min with the wip rc 3).

I found also that the sorted files are not exactly the same in clrmame and romcenter 3...
I will check each differences to see who's right.

RomCenter 3 report

Hi  I would like to give some news about romcenter 3 as I'm spending quite some times on it actually. So, I built (again :P) a new repair engine. It will allow more flexibility like managing samples and chd (not yet done). It loads also very quickly at startup: 5 sec for a mame set with 3 f...

Maybe it's not clear enough in the quick start guide... This is so obvious for me.

Anyway, this 'long drop down menu' won't be here anymore in rc 3.0
You will just use the standart 'files/load datafile' menu.

You must select roms under the files nodes, not roms in the database node.

The romcenter 3 datafile format will be xml (mostly like mame xml list). So, I can only advice you to go with xml instead of 'old' dat format.

Delete the missing roms :? You can't delete missing roms because they are missing 8)

About your roms, put them in a path, and add that path in romcenter.

Did I miss something ? :?
