7zip support. I'm not about to convert all my ROMs, but if this supported 7zip archives, it would be tremendously useful.

Please, i need 7Zip support, i thought it was already supported like a lot of tools! :(
Im very dissapointed this romcenter doesn't support 7Z!
If you don't implement this soon this is not any good -_-
And i bet it's very easy to implement... please don't be lazy =_=

7z. This is absolutely necessary. I would love to use this software but everything I have is 7z. I know you can integrate 7z libs into your project. Unless it violates some license this should be top priority.

Hey mate,
add another vote for 7z support.

IMO your ROM manager is the best around - so much easier to use than a few of the others - however the lack of 7z support makes it, unfortunately, un-usable for what seems to be the most common compression method for distributing content.

Posting this wish here, just to have it in mind. I guess it may come up in a future v4.x version...

The ability to go (via a file's the context menu) from DB note to ROM path node and vice versa.

Explaining: When rightclicking on a file in a rom path, a "Go to the respective database node" entry should exist. This entry should have the same children as the tree database node ("All games (main->clones)" , "All games (flat)", etc)

Respectively, rightclicking on a database game, a "Go to the rompath node" entry should exist, having as children all the rom paths in which the given rom exists.

Clicking on any of the child entries, the selection should be moved to the respective node (when on database it should move to the selected rom path and vice versa).

I had this idea in mind, but never thought how to show it on gui. This is a good idea.

On my Quad core PC, 3GB RAM, 1TB of HD, it can take 30mins or so to import Mame set

Changing split options, well I think I killed RomCenter after about a hour of hard disc hammering.

I really like RomCenter, I used 2.71 for ages, and although ClrMamePro was much quicker I liked the user interface. But comparing the performance of ClrMamePro to RomCenter 3 is like chalk and cheese.

I know this is probably down to the external database engine you use, but it does distract from an otherwise excellent product.
I just downloaded the new version, it's been months since I've updated my MAME set so I forget what version I was using before. But the updating does seem to take forever compared to what I remember. For example, when manually renaming a romset and refreshing the list with F5, it never used to take 10 to 15 minutes, maybe a minute or so. There are occasions where a romset needs renamed manually, for example I had "batridk", which needed to be renamed to "batriderk". But Romcenter was seeing it as "batrider", so I couldn't rename it within the program. I manually added the e, and refreshed, and it took about 15 minutes to refresh thew list. It also took about 2 hours to add the rom path BTW. Is there a reason it's taking so much longer? Is there a setting in the options that would speed this up?

The latest version (3.57) seems to have some performance issues. Either use 3.56 or wait for Eric to take a look at it. Perhaps he can improve the speed in 3.58 and bring it back to what it was in 3.56.

Thank you for posting this. I just thought I was going nuts and a virus has invaded my pc. Fortunately still have 3.56 for reinstall. But still the best rom manager, in my uninformed world.

Is .dat or internal database filtering planned?

Assuming I am only interested in maintaining roms that conform these specifications:
Region: Germany OR Europe OR World
Language: German OR English

Will that be possible even if I have complete .dat files?
No-Intro's datomatic allows customizing .dats before downloading.
But redump.org doesn't! :-(

That'd be awesome!

Also count me in for 7z support! :-D

Thanks!

7zip will be supported in .net v4 version.
Dat filtering is an idea for a future version.

RC358 installs something on C:\ but i decided to use my own path.
Dont let em install on harddrives i absolutly deny!
I installed, and after i recognized installing something on C:\, i decided to deinstall.
After that, every Point in the Program was grey, so it wasnt usable!!

Thanks for reading...

Try downloading the "manual installation version". It has no setup, you just unzip the files and run romcenter. All data files are stored under the "romcenter" of your path (if you unzip it to D:\RC, all datafiles will be stored under D:\RC\romcenter).

Hello,
I think a great future would be to add a third panel in the middle of romcenter to see the snapshot picture of the selected game for e.g. from mameui. So I can easier decide if want to go after the missing files.

I'd love to be able to use this software, but it is not "Color Deficient" friendly. (were mostly not "Color Blind")
Like about 10% of the world population, I cannot easily distinguish Red from Green very well.

I fire this up and I can't tell which are which, they all look the same.
I know I can use the filters to filter out what I need, but this is very inconvenient as compared to what "normal" people can do, just look at the screen.

Is there a way to change the colors to an easier to see, like Green for Good, Yellow for Missing, Blue for Bad and so on?
Those type of colors are easily distinguishable even to most of us with this condition.

Thanks
-dl

Sorry for the DP, but I couldn't find the Edit button to add this comment.

As an example of how wonderful life is for the Color Deficient , I had to ask my Daughter to look so I could answer the pre-post question about What is the main color used on this web site.

Hi there. Only registered users can edit posts. Guests don't have this ability. You have posted your comments as guest, so... :) No problem for the DP though. As for customizing colours, perhaps Eric (the author) can let us know if there will be such an ability in RC4.
