Ermmm.. don't know if bugs reports belong here, but here i go:

I have some roms that are corrupt in my hard disk. The problem is that romcenter doesn't detect them properly, in fact when i do a right click over the rom path, and choose "advanced" then "Test file(s)" romcenter scans the files, but doesn't shows the correct corrupt files. in fact shows others that are good and correct.

I have the following files corrupt (and yes, testing with a zip application shows that are really corrupt):

airtrix
breakrev
capsnk
finehour
pjuste
rbffz
vtenis2c
vs2v991

but romcenter finds these files and shows as corrupt:

alcon
brkthruj
carb2002
firefoxa
pkrmasta
rcasino
vsbball
wallca

But when i test these files, all of them are correct. No error messages are shown or anything of the likes... everyone of them shows the following message in the console(?): ***** Invalid size or check sum of file or unsupported compression format - Native error: 00008 *****

My system is windows 2008R2 x64. Processor is an Intel and Memory is 3 GB. If any other info is needed just ask.

And thanks for your work in romcenter. much appreciated. (and sorry about my english).

Testing more the 3.51 release, also i got another thing:

In the preferences, if "decompress and recompress" option is enabled, when attempt to repair a rom, it will randomly delete another or the rom to be repaired from the folder, this is random. The console will warn that the file is "not found". Fortunetely the rom will be moved to the recycle bin, but is something weird...

I've use Offline List forever and have decided to change to a different program with a little more power..

I downloaded RomCenter 3.51 yesterday and installed it. I've run into a problem and have some questions.

Firstly, I've noticed that it places files all over the place. It installed some stuff in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\romcenter, C:\romcenter, and C:\Program Files\romcenter.

The an installation issue, the initial romcenter.ini which is in C:\romcenter had the DatafilePath=\romcenter\datas\ which caused errors on my system, it couldn't find that path. I had to manually edit that to add C: to the path.

What is the purpose of the two different data locations? Can I consolidate them into one without breaking anything? Which is the proper location for the datas to reside? In the C:\romcenter or in C:\Documents and Settings\All User\Documents\romcenter?

Thanks!

In romcenter installation folder, you can find "startup.ini". This file contains the actual location of the data files. It should contain a line "RomCenterDatasFolder=.\romcenter\" in it, which would place the datafiles under romcenter's installation folder.

When romcenter is used from a removable disk, it's convenient to place the datas under the romcenter installation folder. When installed normally on a PC, the "proper" folder for the datafiles would be under the user's profile ("C:\Documents and Settings" in XP). In any case, there is not need for multiple locations of the datas. You just have to place them in a folder and change "startup.ini" to point to it. You can always download the manual installation version for better handling of where files are placed.
