A few suggestions

Post by Calo3Productions »

Hi.

So, I am new to RomCenter, but already I love it.
I use another rom tool for my NDS Collection (no hard feelings) and that program has a lot of features that this one doesn't.

In the 4.0 or 5.60 update you should think about adding these features: (and yes, 'pocketheaven' has this on there database so it should be easy to implement)

- Rename roms to 'eur-kuru.gba' (that is the scene archive name) not '0004 - Kuru Kuru Kururin (J)(Eurasia).gba'
- Download NFO's from a database and rename them to the scene archive name so: eur-kuru.nfo

I can help with renaming the stuff in the .dat file if someone tells me how to.

Romcenter renames roms as specified in the datafile. It doesn't analyse the rom name. This feature is in the todo list for v4, but I don't know when it will appear.

I don't know anything about these databases. Can you explain ?

Say you are using the Pocket Heaven data files.
Is it possible to do some code with the program to download the nfo for that file according the the CRC read.

If you need more understanding, try this: DS Rom Tool

That file is the program I use for organising my DS files.
It has a collection maker, can extract, read roms well, downloads NFO's and Boxarts. It is one truly awesome DS Rom tool.

Download a DS file or two and make a collection. Add those two files to the collection.
It will organise them, download boxarts, and add the nfo to the collection.

Nice.
The tool is great (the DS one), and if you put enough into yours, you can make it even better than the one I just gave you.
If you need help with dats, feel free to PM me.

currently the best .dat files (to manage console's roms) are the ones made by "no-intro", so I recommend you to use them ;)

http://datomatic.no-intro.org/

and btw... roms with name "eurasia" means that is a modified rom (that generally have a intro with eurasia logo during loading) and is not a clean/valid rom.

if you want real DS's roms, you should use the ones verified by "no-intro" (google is your friend) :super:

I've used the No-Intro dats, and I can say that they are pretty handy.

Hope to see a new release soon.
