Hey guys & girls new to the Dat scene :) a couple of questions.

Post by ALI ESSA »

I have a couple of questions on a few things I'm feeling a bit unsure about.

First if a Rom set has example Donkey Kong Rev 1,2,3 does the system look at what version it is and fixes that specific version. Or does it update to one specific version no matter what.

Secondly I have seen the renaming feature can be turned off but does that make fixing less accurate. Is it name based or the data in the Rom based.

Hi and welcome

Romcenter first look at the filename. If it matches a known game, then this game is used. If not, it scans the file to identify the game from the rom content.

Mame relies on the roms content, no matter the name. But it is better to have a correct rom name, so everyone talk about the same thing.

It will rename files accordingly to the datafile.
