the dat here for mame, works fine. its only when generating them, from within romcenter, theres a problem. which is the case when trying to get a dat for the u1,u2 etc releases

Make sure that you are using the latest beta version of RomCenter and the latest version of DatUtil. Both of these were created especially for recent versions of MAME that only output XML information.

Yes, got them both. It works fine for 86, but not for any of the beta releases... Anyone else get them to work...

Thanks...

If you are compiling your own then you probably aren't doing it quite right. It is often that people do not do 'clean' compiles and the XML of their own build is damaged as a result.

Make sure that you are doing a 'clean' compile or remove the obj directory before re-compiling new versions. If you don't know what I mean by that then try asking in one of the compiling forums.

Hello, I don't know how to compile. I was using the beta of Mame32. Since that didn't work, I tried to use a DAT for 86u3. That didn't work either.

Thanks,

The mame32 compile shouldn't work. Use the DOS compile of mame.exe to generate your datfile.

Thats not true, RC and CLR can create DAT's from MAME32 and both the windows & DOS version of MAME.EXE.

MY advice is always create DAT's from OFFICIAL builds ONLY. Do use any other.

I currently use RC 2.7 beta 2 and DatUtil v2.7 and works 100%. Although there are still issues with RC still which are known and are being rewritten etc.

Maybe it's totally unrelated, but I remember that, in the past, I had problems to generate mame dats, but not recently.

The only thing has changed is that now I use windows xp instead of 98, but I don't know if that's the reason.

I am using Windows XP Professional with SP2. Works 100%.

First of all uninstall your current installation of Romcenter.

Secondly, you must install RomCenter 2.62 FIRST!

Then copy over RC 2.70 BETA 2 into the Romcenter Directory.

Then Download and copy DATUTIL 2.7 (the latest version) into the Romcenter directory aswell.

This should work perfectly.

I meant if xp is the reason that it now works
