First, read the documentation and go back if you still have questions.

Ok, first, tell me:
- The romcenter version
- The emulator you use
- The romcenter datafile name

You are probably referring to the "datafile name". A datafile is a file that contains all valid roms for a specific emulator. It has to be located in the "data" folder under Romcenter. You have to have one for each emulator. Then you open it (select it from the combo-box in the main screen). When you do that you see on screen all the roms of the emulator. After that, you have to add the path in which you have stored your roms (for this emulator). At that point, Romcenter will start validating your roms and display their status on screen. Green for the ones that are completely ok, yellow for the ones that have problems that are fixable and red for the ones with non-fixable problems (files missing).

I suggest (since you are new to this) to take a backup of your roms before trying anything with Romcenter, just in case you do something wrong or a problem occurs and you loose anything.

I hope this helps you a little.
