Question about "Fix Game" (Yellow Files)

Post by Guest »

Hello RomCenter and all,

I tried looking around on the board for this answer, but I couldn't find one or simply overlooked it. Okay, I have a bunch of files in my rom collection that show up yellow with the Info error of "Bad name". I know I can right-click on the file and select "Fix game" to correct the problem. My question is that when I have a list of like 200 yellow files that all have bad names, is there a way to "Fix all"? As it stand now, I have been right-clicking and selecting "Fix game" for each single file over and over and it is quite time consuming? Theorizing a possible action, I highlighted all of the yellow files in the right pane and chose "Fix game" thinking it would perform this action on all the files; however, it fixes the first file or the primary file I right-click on and leaves the remaining untouched. If you have any questions, suggestions, or answers I would be grateful! Thanks!

PS. Great software! Nice work. :super:

The answer can be found at http://www.romcenter.com/dokuwiki/doku. ... start:menu.

As you can see at the end, there is a "fix" button in the buttonbar (the third from left). :) If you select the rompath in the tree, or you select all roms in the romlist window (the right-part of Romcenter's window) and press the fix button, all roms in this path are massively fixed. Have in mind though that this may take quite some time (perhaps a few hours) if many roms have errors in them (especially the large ones).

Read the tutorial for more info.

Thank you for the quick response.

I actually tried that action, but was having the same results. So I dug deeper into my files and I figured out what was causing the problem. My datafile was telling the software to rename all of my files with NO EXTENSION. So I rewrote the datafile so that all the names ended with an extension and started fresh. I tried again in the way you suggested and it worked properly this time. It was actually doing its job before, but since the datafile was renaming all my files with no extension, RomCenter was returning me with a message that said 0 roms were fixed because technically they weren't. Lol. Thanks for the help! Hooray for success!
