i am new here, and i was like studying the romcenter and i realize that some games has missing some files, but the files was there but with a diferent CRC.
my question is, if there's a software that can change the CRC of the roms.
i download aerofighters 3 from rom world and i try it to use it on the mame 0.81, i got like 20 bios for the mame, one of them is the neogeo.zip, the thing is this, when i checkit with RC 3.31 it says that, but i dont'n get it , the file is there but the CRC is diferent, and i guess that the size of the rom is diferent because of it.
name of file----- name of rom-------CRC-----------Size -------Merge----Info
------------------- 097-v2.bin --------32187ccd ---- 1.0 MB-------------- missing file
097-v2.bin------------------------------ 3359e868 -----2.0MB --------------unknown
if you can help me with this i will really apreciate it, i want to play the most of the games in one emulator ( i mean neo geo games), if you dont'n, is ok

Re: the CRC on neo goe games
Hello
Check this page for more info on CRC.
A small quote:
Where's how things work: each game usually consists of a zip file containing some data files in it which is playable by an emulator. Many times different versions of the emulator require different versions of the game zip. This usually happens because the people who generated the original game zip had done it in a not-so-correct way and later on they manage to re-generate it in a better way, containing different versions of the existing files or perhaps even new files in it. The emulator developers then release a new version of the emulator working with the new zip.
So, what you need is to find the version of the game you wish and the respective version of the emulator that supports it. In order to check that under romcenter, you'll also need the datafile corresponding to the version of the emulator you have. If everything is OK with the game, it will appear as green under romcenter.

The only way of changing the CRC is to change the file contents. Doing that is meaningless.wikipedia wrote:A CRC is an error-detecting code.

Re: the CRC on neo goe games
well, i think i get it, at least i was a developer, there is nothing i can do
i know how to use romcenter, but the most of the games i have are old
and have missing files or diferent CRC, but it's ok
i guess they can't do roms like does ones for the nes or snes.
it's pretty sad, but developers do a lot of work makin possible to us to play games for free
i guess that's the payment.
anyway, thank you.
i gonna download package from torrent, i guess is kind of safer download them with the emulator
