Bototin,
Thank you for posting your requirements on the forum, but one time in the wishlist thread is enough. You already post six messages for that feature and I already answered you.

Re: RomCenter 3.54 released
Hi, I'm using Windows7 and Romcenter 3.54 and I'm having trouble opening my .dat file for MAME. All my .dat files are now associated with WMP, and when I try to open it through romcentre it instead tries to open in media player. I cannot see an option anymore to set up your database directly from your emulator exe, has this been removed? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Re: RomCenter 3.54 released
You can load a new .dat from the menu 'file/new'.
You can't associate .dat files with romcenter.

Re: RomCenter 3.54 released
That's the problem I'm having though. When you open a dat file through file/new, instead of getting the explorer where you select your file then click on open, all I'm getting is My documents open directly and when you double click the file WMP try's to open it. I suppose basically the problem is that My documents opens instead of the explorer when you try to open a database file. Has nobody else had this problem with windows 7 64bit? I've not used romcenter for a while and not with windows7, but I never had any problems with it before and always found it easy to use.
Re: RomCenter 3.54 released
Sorry please ignore posts, problem has been solved with a re-install. Don't know what went wrong first time. Sorry for wasting your time.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: RomCenter 3.54 released
When i'm starting romcenter all the buttons are disabled, and most of the menus are disabled also.
The "File" menus that are not disabled are not responsive (nothing happens when i click on them).
All the "Help" menus is working as expected.
All other menus are disabled.
I'm using windows xp sp3 pro with net framework up to 3.5 version.
I was using romcenter 2.32 till now, and i was happy with it ( i only needed romcenter for mame 0.67).
Now i have (unfortunately) uninstalled it and the next version i tried was the 3.54 version.
I don't know if a major change been made that i 'm not aware of, but looks mostly like something
goes wrong.
Also the databases dropdown menu, contains nothing, is this ok?
Thank you for any help.
And a big thank you for the great program (at least the 2.x2 that i was using previously)
It was 2.32 or 2.62... i can't recall the exact version.

Re: RomCenter 3.54 released
Hi there. Take a look at the wiki for a quick help. RC does not directly use datafiles any more. It only uses them to import the data to a database. Check the Creating a database section in the wiki.Nick wrote:When i'm starting romcenter all the buttons are disabled, and most of the menus are disabled also.
Check this thread too to see what's coming next.

continuous error from version 3.31
In earlier times they had discussed that point and others, but this is the most serious.
For example in the screenshot below you can see that the program RomCenter indicates that the file has an incorrect name ("Nombre incorrecto del archivo"):
But that's not true, as can be seen in the following imagem:
You can also buy opening the mame and looking at the game list and see if it exists.
This error happens with many games.
The solution would be RomCenter first check if that file exists in the list of games (never mind that the file has size zero or empty), and only if it does not exist in the list of games, should show the newly error that the file has a wrong name.
Once solved that, the other point is that when you use the option to fix the game (find roms) the search for roms should be taken into account in the name of the file ("Nombre del archivo"), not as now basing the search on the name suggested the game ("Nombre esperado"). then show a picture of what I mean:
Another thing is that they have added the option to delete empty files pore defect, it is very arbitrary in turn, should make even an option where I can choose to enable that option.
An improvement for the program would add the option to choose a folder to CHDs and BIOSes, as is done for samples.
I hope now sip take into account these points.
Thanks, having a good day.

Re: RomCenter 3.54 released
As I do not have time to make these corrections, the better because they put the source code here, to make a change. I also think it will be easy to take progress with the help of all, since you are using the svn system.
Re: RomCenter 3.54 released
The open source point has already been discussed here. I could eventually release the source of the c# version I'm currently developping.
About the bugs, I will switch back to the 3.54 version as soon as I finished the current work on the v4 interface (no date yet).
(Please stop writing in red)

Good luck with the errors you have to correct.
Please could you tell me where is the link to download the source that you are free, so we are already contributing to this project.

Hi there. He said "I could eventually release the source", which means he is not yet ready to release it but maybe he will, in the future when the code is complete.supersecretos wrote:RomCenter wrote:The open source point has already been discussed here. Re: RomCenter 3.54 released
I had a look at the problem and I can't reproduce it. It should concern the way romcenter evaluate the game name from the filename and content.
If we take for example the game Ledstorm:
<game name="ledstorm" sourcefile="lastduel.c" cloneof="madgear" romof="madgear">
It is a cloneof madgear, so it can contain roms from ledstorm and madgear.
When romcenter read the ledstorm.zip file, it analyses if the content roms matches the filename (ledstorm). If not, it calculates the expected filename (madgear).
If for example you only have the merged roms in ledstorm.zip, then the expected name will be madgear.zip.
If the filename match an existing game name and at least one 'game specific' rom is found inside, then the filename is estimated correct.
