Read only folder attribute trouble

I just upgraded to RC 3.31 and I wasn't having this trouble before, but my roms are stored on a network server (I don't know if that matters) but the folder has the read only attribute flag set. I clear the flag from the properties window, it clears the read only flag for all of the files and the folder, but when I reopen the properties window it is set again. None of the files inside have the flag, just the folder.

I've searched quite a bit online and it seems to be a 'feature' of Windows XP. I've tried multiple ways to get the read only flag clear including the two approaches offered by Microsoft:one a registry edit and one a use of the 'attrib' command from the command prompt, but neither works.

When I attempt to 'fix' roms (mostly name changes), Romcenter says it can't because 'Folder Is Read Only'. I don't think the issue noted above is new for Windows but again, earlier versions of Romcenter didn't seem to care.

Any suggestions of what to try? RomCenter won't be much use to me if it can't modify these files.

Can you manually create a file in your share ?
Does it works on a local drive ?
Did you use direct path to network share (\\pc\share\roms)?
Did you try with a mapped network drive (f:\roms) ?

I can read and write all files and folders on my share, even though the folder has the read-only flag set.
I just moved some of my files to a folder on the local drive (which also has the read-only flag set) and RC has no trouble renaming files, etc.
I have used the direct path and I still get the message that the folder is read-only.

I just tried using a mapped network drive (which I thought I had tried already) and that seems to work. RC is able to delete and move roms and rename files.

For what it's worth, I thought my problem was similar to what is described in

Thanks for your help.

I found the problem and it will be solved in v3.40 (out as soon as I finished the tests)
This is a bug in romcenter, nothing to do with a readonly flag.
Thanks for the report.
