Can't build earlier set of roms from mame's .80

Post by crashwg »

Here's my problem... I've got an old computer that I want to use as a mame machine.
I located and DLed mame v0.36b12.
I used Romcenter to create a datfile from the mame.exe
I then used that dat file on my .80 collection of roms to show only .36b12 compatable ones.

What I can't seem to figgure out is how to copy them into another folder...

In the FAQs that come with romcenter it says: Create your folder (cps2). In RomCenter, choose the cps2 filter with the mame datafile. Only cps2 games are displayed. Highlight your mame rom path in the left window and click 'move files'. Select your new cps2 directory and let romcenter do the move. You can also copy files.

I made a folder on my desktop called m36b12. I added that folder to Romcenter so it is now displayed right underneath "Games database" in the left window.

From here I can't figgure out for the life of me how to copy the displayed roms into the new folder. The option is grayed out unless I'm actually in the new folder I created. This obviously does me no good because there's no roms in there yet!

How about just copying everything into a new folder using Explorer then using RomCenter to fix the copied version?

Add both folder, the one with the original 0.36b12 roms, and the new one (empty).
Go into the first folder, select all roms, right click and use the shell/move or shell/copy action.
