I'm the author of the NES and SNES plug-ins. Eric recently sent me a notice to have a look at this problem. If you had sent me an e-mail I probably would have had a look at the problem sooner, because I don't check this forum regularly anymore. Anyway, I will look if I can reproduce the problem.

Re: Cowering dat files out of date?
The best thing I've got is an ancient DAT file based on GoodGBX. I could send it to you if you want. I don't feel like making it available on a website, because Cowering is acting a bit silly about DAT files based directly on his utilities.

Sorry for the late reply. Try this URL: http://x.or.internet.free.fr/forums/Bahamuth wrote:I didn't find any others for the NES. Maybe you'll enlighten me about new paths to find some?
I haven't personally used their NES DAT file yet.

Re: nes11b.dll needed or not?
I just downloaded the newest Romcenter just to see that he fails to load the GoodNES 1.01 for Rc 2.5.dat 'cause he thinks nes11b.dll isn't a CRC-DLL from RomCenter.
You shouldn't use such an old DAT file anyway.

Going open source will change all that. I don't think I will find it very funny to explain the source code (there are more than 38 000 lines of code).
I agree, that's no fun. However, you don't have to explain the source code. Just add a quick note that you don't want to answer questions about the ...

Re: Confusing messages from Romcenter
It means what it says. The SNES plug-in did not recognise it as a SNES ROM dump. What counts is that its CRC32 value was found in the DAT file.SgtSarros wrote:Does this mean that part of the file (maybe later on) is damaged, and i should see if i can replace it, or does it mean that everything is okay with it?

Re: nes11b.dll
nes11b.dll has been superseded by nes.dll, which can be found at the download page. You can find up to date DAT files at Dweezledap's page.

I had asked Eric about going opensource some time ago. His reply was a negative one. It's understandable he doesn't want to give-up his source code. Most programmers feel this way.
They don't. They exaggerate. Proof: programmers who write software for a living. They haven't the slightest problem ...

Opening up RomCenter would be quite beneficial to its users, but Eric will most probably loose *all* control. The reason is very simple: Eric doesn't seem to have the time to maintain RomCenter let alone improve it. However, many people would really like to see some long standing issues resolved. As ...

Re: Further NES rom question
Hi,
I have some more NES rom questions:
:?: Whats the meaning of "mapper number" and "mapper name" ?
You may want to read a bit on FC/NES hardware first. This page may answer your question. A mapper name (board name) is just a different way to refer to the same thing (a mapper) and is usually ...

Hi,
Like Dweezledap mentioned I visit this site once in a while, but I usually don't check this forum.
There are several rom names including [hFFE]. I found out that its a device called 'Front Far East copier'. Ok, but are these regular roms or just modified original rom versions to get run with ...

How can I change the header to a correct one?
By using one of the SNES conversion options (See "ucon64 -snes -help|more"). I suggest to use -swc. The SWC format is an uninterleaved format and the header contains a "magic" number so that a file in that format can be easily identified as a SNES ROM ...

Re: File was not detected as SNES ROM dump - Ok
What can I say? The file wasn't detected as a SNES ROM dump, but the plug-in calculated the right CRC32 value nevertheless, hence the Ok. The SNES plug-in produces the first part of the message, RomCenter produces the Ok.

what should I do? delete 2500 bad roms? before upgrading to version 2.01 they were all green (good)!
No, you should not delete any ROM unless you're absolutely sure they're "bad". In practice this is more difficult than it sounds, as you've experienced yourself.

Re: 22 new Datafiles
I am wondering, why do you make a difference between RomCenter and uCON64 datafiles? uCON64 produces RomCenter datafiles after all. And you don't make a clear distinction yourself either (for example the PCE DAT file). If uCON64 deviates from RomCenter without a good reason I consider it a bug and ...
