@Logiqx: I know It just did not work in beta2 - yes – beta 4 works ok (when it comes to MESS BIOSes).
Just one important side note: wouldn’t the transition to .ini file be easier (for users) if RC could still read and transfer the settings from registry?

But just recently when I tried to load MESS dat (which I couldn't generate btw - I had to download it from somewhere) ..RC crashes with some Access Violation message in French (i.e. message is still generated ...

Note please, that if you simply remove year+publisher+other "useless info" - you may get duplicated entries. There are often games with same title, but different publisher. Datfile modified this way *may* simply not work in RomCenter. (you may have two exactly same filenames with different crc32 ...

If I understandy you correctly I had similar problem loong time ago. Such things were happening AFAIR when there was another copy of that "disk 1 of 2" in another folder (which was of course on RC list).

It's very probable that the problem lies not within RomCenter, but within the generated DATfile.
Remember that TOSEC online DatGen is still work-in-progress - lately I personally had similar problem, but it was solved later. You don't mention which TOSEC DAT caused this trouble, but not so many days ...

Actually RomCenter is very "picky" about disk space. It often rejects moving files within same drive because of lack of space.
Also - amount of space needed seems to be checked vs. uncompressed files - even when I try to move ZIPs.

There are TWO nes.dll files in nes_dll-r2.zip - one for 2.61 and other for 2.62 (check path names).
2.62 works for me.

@Eric - AFAIK unrar.dll IS free and if you really had to - you probably could use WinRAR for all renaming etc. But none of emulators (none I know of) supports RAR files, so... (actually I remember advising against it long time ago).
On the other side - if yo had some spare time (just kidding :D ...
